Have you ever met someone who always seems lucky good things just happen to them? Or maybe you’ve felt like luck always skips you.
Well, Professor Richard Wiseman, a psychologist from the UK, was curious about this too. He wanted to know: Is luck just random, or is there more to it?
So, he launched a 10-year scientific study to find out what makes some people consistently luckier than others.
Professor Richard Wiseman wanted to understand the psychology of luck , why some people seem lucky and others don’t. So, he did an interesting experiment.
He gave a small book to two groups of people: those who said they were lucky and those who said they were unlucky. He asked them to count how many photographs were in the book.
Here’s what happened:
- The unlucky people took about 2 minutes to count the photos.
- The lucky people finished in just a few seconds!
Why the big difference?
Because on page two of the book, there was a large message that said:
“Stop counting. There are 43 photographs in this book.”
The lucky people saw the message and stopped. The unlucky people missed it they were too focused on counting and didn’t notice the message.
This experiment showed that lucky people are usually more relaxed and open, so they notice opportunities. Unlucky people can be too focused or stressed, and that causes them to miss things even when the answer is right in front of them!
Professor Richard Wiseman’s research showed that luck isn’t just about chance or outside events , it’s mostly about our own mindset.
He found that lucky people create their own good fortune by following four simple habits:
- 🎯 They spot opportunities
Lucky people are more open and observant. They notice chances around them that others might miss. - 🌟 They trust their gut feeling
Lucky people often make decisions by listening to their intuition—and it works! - 😊 They expect good things to happen
Their positive attitude helps create self-fulfilling prophecies. Because they believe things will go well, they often do. - 💪 They stay strong during tough times
When something goes wrong, lucky people don’t give up. They stay resilient and find a way to turn bad luck into something good.
Being lucky is something you can learn. By changing your mindset and habits, you can create more luck in your own life.
🙏 What do you think?
I’d love to hear your thoughts on this!
Have you ever felt lucky or unlucky? Do you agree that mindset plays a big role in luck?
